Local athlete Kimberly Goetz strives for Olympic GoldTraci and I had the privledge of attending a fundraiser last night at Flemington Fur to support Kimberly Goetz. She is a young woman who is striving to make the U.S. 2018 short track speed skating team. Currently ranked #2 in the country, she grew up in Flemington and graduated from Hunterdon Central High School. She started her skating career at the Frenchtown Roller Rink on roller blades and went as far as she could in the sport before transitioning to ice. In January of this year, she secured 1 of only 2 spots on the US team for the World Championships and has been traveling the world representing the United States and Flemington. Her dedication and drive is amazing. She is a wonderful representative of our town, county, state and country. As I’m sure you can imagine, persuing this dream is an expensive proposition and the town is stepping up to try to support her.
A fund has been established to make things easy. If you are interested in helping, you can reach Kim’s mom, Linda Goetz at 908-797-6109 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Checks can be made out to “K Goetz Olympic Fund” and mailed to 29 New York Ave. Flemington, NJ 08822.
Every little bit helps so, we have set up a contribution box in our lobby. When you stop in, and if you are inclined, please drop whatever you can in the box and we will make sure it gets to the fund.
Thank you for helping our local STAR!!!
